A few words about Thassos

Thassos is the northernmost island of the Aegean Sea. It is particularly known for its rich vegetation and its lacy coasts. It is located opposite Kavala at a very short distance, so access is quite easy and quick. It is definitely a must-have summer destination. Both its coastal landscapes and its mountainous villages will be unforgettable to anyone who visits.

The story behind the house

Our history

You will find our traditional stone guesthouse in the uniquely beautiful village of Panagia Thassos. It is located perched since 1707, at an altitude of about 200 meters, with the beach of Golden Beach at 10 minutes by car and a view of the unique and lush Ypsario.

A building that has kept intact the tradition of past centuries, combined with the comfort and luxury it offers, is waiting to take you on a journey through time.

The building has all the characteristics of the traditional architecture of the wider Macedonian region of the 18th - 19th century. The name "Marouda" was given in memory of the great-great-grandmother of the current owner.

The house was originally three storeys high, but for structural reasons the top floor was removed and at the same time it was extended to cover the needs of the family. It has 3 bedrooms, a hall, and a large kitchen downstairs. 

Our guests will be able to enjoy the unique decoration of the "Maroyda Stonehouse", with its preserved objects, combined with comfortable and modern furniture.

The house also has a large stone courtyard and a garden with fruit trees, as well as a balcony with mountain views.

Access

The island of Thassos is easily accessible by boat from the port of Keramoti and Kavala, as well as by air via Kavala, Thessaloniki and Alexandroupolis. There are also very good motorway connections from the Balkan countries.

  • AIRPORT

Thassos can be easily reached by air via the airport of Chrysoupolis Kavala, which is the closest, as well as via the International Airport of Thessaloniki, which is about 2 hours and 30 minutes from the port of Keramoti. Finally, access can also be made via the International Airport of Alexandroupolis which is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Keramoti, from where you can take the ferry.

  • FERRIES

Thassos is a very easily accessible island. It is about 6 nautical miles from Keramoti Kavala, from where you can take the ferry and reach our port, Limenas, in 35 minutes. Limenas is a 10 minute drive from the village of Panagia. The ferry services during the summer months are very frequent to serve you easily and quickly!
